🩳👟🖤Rick Owens Silk Pod Shorts and Rick Owens DRKSDW Boat Sneaker
There’s nothing better than getting a great deal on some designer and these two both have something in common - both are Rick Owens AND were a great deal! The first piece is a pair of the Infamous Rick Pod shorts in a khaki color made of a silk/cotton blend. These are from the spring/summer 2012 “Naska” collection - feel super lightweight, breathable and are going to be perfect when the weather warms up. I’ve never seen a khaki pair of pod shorts before and didn’t think I needed shorts in this color, so these are a cool variant to have! These came from Lostgoodsboutique and sold them to me for 110$, so thank you for the great deal! The next piece I purchased was a pair of slip-ons from the DRKSHDW line dubbed the “boat shoe”. They’re basically a slip-on version of the Ramones and for the longest time I was waiting for the right opportunity to get the mainline high top pair, but I couldn’t pass these up for 220$ and I have more of a history with slip-on shoes in general. These would go great with everything - especially with some baggy pants/shorts!
📚The Way Of The Househusband Volumes 1-9
One of my manga loving friends lent me a couple volumes of the series and I got hooked to the hilarious story of a retired Yakuza member being the “househusband” in the relationship. As the wife is at work, we see the interactions he has doing mundane things like cleaning the house or buying groceries-involving himself or other characters in the mix and it’s enjoyable to see recurring characters become fleshed out and partake in all the over the top situations that happen. I especially like the bonus end chapters of his cat Gin- having his own story be as hilarious as the main plot. If you love slice of life comedy, this is a great first dive into the genre!
I’d also like to thank my GF for getting Volumes 1-7 for me as a Valentine’s Day gift and thank you for supporting my manga addiction😘
✨🪙Digital Monster Slime Pendant + Chao Charm Bracelet
Yet again thank you to my GF for getting me these two accessories for my birthday even though they’re a couple weeks apart 😘😘😘. These two accessories come from the brand Digital Monsters - a brand that makes apparel, accessories and more based on popular video game IP like Sonic, and Dragon Quest. One aspect I love specifically about these two pieces are that each item subtly references the video games their from and it’s a very IYTYK in terms of design. For example, the Slime pendent takes heavy inspiration from The Vivienne Westwood Orb necklace and adds the iconic Dragon Quest Slime that so many gamers know and love. Being a lover of games and fashion, this necklace is the representation of my first loves in my life. The second item comes in the form of a charm bracelet and features each Chao evolution from the Sonic Adventure series - neutral, hero and dark. I also love the accent colors on each Chao and the Digital Monsters logo that ties everything together in a sliver package.
📖🏀Slam Dunk Illustrations
Slam Dunk was one of the first manga/anime I remember the most due to the illustrations and gif sets I’d always see on Tumblr back in 2012-2014 that featured so many Jordan sneakers I desperately wanted in high school. The detail and love that legendary illustrator Takehiko Inoue displayed for Basketball was very apparent when it came to the uniforms, sneakers and overall history of the sport! Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of basketball, but I can appreciate the way Inoue illustrates and tells a story of a high school basketball team and I’d love to continue reading or watching Slam Dunk.
📖Popeye Magazine Issue 907
The Japanese fashion scene has always been so polarizing and inspiring when it comes to the style, subculture and the love for clothes and i’ve always loved how dedicated the Japanese are when it comes to expressing what they love! To me, Popeye magazine has to be the best publication that discusses what’s hot in Japan and showcases lifestyles of many that participate in really putting it on. This issue focuses on people’s love for manga and interviews a select amount of people and their fond memories of reading their favorite series front to back - itching to read more. There’s nothing better than getting sucked into a world of action, drama or day to day life and I love reading people’s experiences on their favorite series. Luckily, I was able to get an understanding of what was being said through Google Translate, which has been a godsend! This is my second issue I’ve copped so far and every time I go to Kinokuniya, I rush right into the special interests section to grab whatever new issue is available - followed by me steadily going downstairs to the manga section 😙.
🎮New Nintendo 3DS LL
With the 3DS and Wii U eShop closing this month, I digged up my original 3DS and looked at the games I bought many years ago and had the urge to finally finish them after all this time. I’ve been playing Fire Emblem Fates these past couple months and getting sucked into the game all over again, but this time I am not stopping until I finish this game after 8 years! During this time, I’ve been consuming 3DS content and seeing all these cool variants with different colors and designs and wanted to get a “New” 3DS XL - being the more powerful version of the 3DS family coming equipped with a better CPU, improved screens, a c-stick and overall better built quality. With how cheap the New models are in Japan compared to US models being super expensive due to the eShop closure, I wanted to take the opportunity and cop the perfect 3DS!
This New 3DS XL comes in a vibrant lime green and came in excellent condition considering it was marked as used and I couldn’t be more happier with how it arrived! I’d like to point out that 3DS consoles are region locked, so out the box I wouldn’t be able to use my physical games or US region games. However, with a little homebrewing and it being super easy to do, I was able to get it to play US games! It also opens up the ability to download custom themes and (allegedly) backup and download games. The 3DS has some of my favorite games and it having the ability to hold every Nintendo portable generation and some more in your pocket makes it such a great system and I encourage you to either hunt for a deal on a US model or purchase a JPN model on eBay or Buyee for half the price!
