I decided to take the month off for the holidays, but I wanted to share what I copped one last time for the year of 2021! Without further ado, these are some highlights of what I’ve acquired for the month of December! I can’t wait to keep sharing what I love and hopefully I can achieve some exciting projects I have floating around in my head :)
PI Hat
If you haven’t heard of the Perfectly Imperfect Newsletter (how haven’t you?!), they’re a fellow Substack newsletter that features guests who recommend things they’ve found useful or enjoyable to share with all that read. Even the 3 founders give their recs that include clothes, movies, books, food and lifestyle items. They’re the reason I considered starting the Caveman Corner Newsletter and I’m very grateful for it, SO when I saw they were finally releasing some merch in the form of a hat, I had to show my support! I purchased the black colorway that features their PI logo in comic sans font, stars fluttering around and their url on the back. I haven’t been wearing hats as much as I used to, but some days call for one and I’m definitely reaching for the PI hat to show support to the homies!
Needles BDU Cargo Pants
I can’t get enough of a nice wide cut pant that flows free, providing me with a unique silhouette when I put ‘em on! My first big want lately was a pair of Yohji Yamamoto Balloon pants that are essentially a very wide and cropped pair of army cargo pants, but I couldn’t find a pair for the right price. This had me looking around for a similar pant and that search led me to these beauties right here. My closet as of late features a good amount of Needles brand clothing that I frequently wear and these are another great addition! I found a pair on Grailed for a lower than retail price, so I copped when I could and when I got them in hand I was hyped to try them on. Since then, I haven’t been able to take them off because they’re such a beautiful shape and add a ton of variety to my outfits. They pair well with boots and derbies especially, but I’ve worn them with my geobaskets and they look just as good! I’ve adored many looks from brands like Yohji Yamamoto and Comme Des Garçons with their simple color palette, but dynamic silhouettes that have me wanting to dive into a different avenue in my style and I feel like these might be the gateway for me. I love these pants so much and if you’re looking for a nice essential pant for your wardrobe, look no further than these!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses + Danganronpa Decadence
These are a couple Nintendo Switch pickups for the month that include a fun tactical JRPG and a collection of exciting visual novels!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I’ve only ever played one Fire Emblem game before, that being Fire Emblem: Awakening on the 3DS years ago and I remember it being a very fun experience. Because of that, Three Houses has been on my most wanted list for some time, but I just haven’t gotten around to it until now! Funny enough, a homie copped the game on sale and they ended up sending him another copy for free, which led him to ask if I wanted it and of course I said yes. So far, this iteration is a lot more character heavy because of the added social elements that Involve you getting to know your teammates and fellow professors at the prestigious school. I was getting very heavy Harry Potter vibes due to the different houses of students and teachers that attend the school. These new social dynamics are a nice break between the tactical gameplay and add a sense of friendship with your battle squad. A great series to get into if you’re into tactical rpgs!
Danganronpa: Decadence
Another series I got into years ago was Danganronpa on the PS Vita and I remember all the crazy twists and turns of the first game that involve a group of students fighting for their lives! In each game, the mastermind Monokuma traps a group of students, giving them only one option to go home and that’s to kill each other until you are the only one left. These stories are full of betrayal and DESPAIR, but you as the main character must find a way to escape! I’ve only finished the first game and was about halfway through the second, so I still have some great games ahead. This series got me into the visual novel genre and I’d recommend it to any first timer!
Rei Kawakubo/ Comme Des Garcons: Art of the In-Between by Andrew Bolton
Since I copped the Rick Owens book a while back, I’ve been adding books about my favorite designers to my wish list and Rei Kawakubo being another all-timer, It’s only right that I’d like to learn more about her work. This massive book comes in a slip-cover that’s simple but elegant and the book itself is a nice sturdy hardcover. The first thing I saw when I opened up the book was a big poster of the cover art that features the elegant models in these bulbous dresses. The rest of the book features her designer background, fashion ethos, many interviews and stunning photographs of her beautiful garments she has designed over the decades of her career. I easily get lost and drool over how stunning these pieces are and how inspirational her journey has been. A great read for anyone who’s interested in fashion or just loves to look at clothes!
World’s Worst Expo Pickups
For December’s trip to the World’s Worst Expo, I copped two pieces I’ve been searching for and they pair great for the cold weather of late!
Vintage Bomber Jacket
Finding a great bomber jacket has taken quite some time due to me being picky of the cut and price, but I found the perfect bomber! The width is great enough to layer jackets and hoodies and the length is at a perfect waist level to play with a cropped silhouette. The day I purchased this jacket, It was a frigid 40 degrees and I was freezing my ass off. As soon as I put it on, I was nice and warm so it was definitely a great buy!
Vintage Kangol Wool Beret
Headwear has been a big part of what I wear since high school and it’s my comfort food of attire. I’ve been wanting to see what I’d look like with a beret and it pairs really well with my long hair and facial structure. A great addition to the arsenal!
